“Sumi Nungwa” a Hopi term meaning “Coming Together”. This statement is central to what our non for profit organization is all about. Bringing together people from many cultures to help preserve the Native American way of life. Our organization helps provide food and sundries to many elders in the Navajo and Hopi reservations of Arizona. Food, Clothing and Service Projects help rebuild and sustain their way of life. Most elders are living without ele
ctricity or running water. A warm home isn’t a concern for most of us, however many of them go without the luxuries we take for granted. Imagine having to lug gallons of water from a long distance in order to have water for cooking, cleaning, bathing and drinking. Flicking a switch to light up a home would be a luxury as most of their homes are without power. It is our mission to give back to these people and restore living conditions we take for granted. Our organizations goals go beyond the day to day staples of living as we look toward the future finding alternative ways to provide energy solutions, reducing the carbon footprint and maintaining a healthy environment. Wood and fuel resources are becoming increasingly scarce and very expensive. Renewable energy technologies, like solar energy through thermal heating may be the key to solving these issues. Please visit our site and find out how you can play a part in this much needed cause. Make a difference today by donating and becoming a part of our multi-cultural family of givers. -Sumi Nungwa
